When Christians Get It Wrong

Oops…

The other day I messed up bad. In an effort to clear out some space in the fridge, I ate the last little bit of mac and cheese. Turns out one of the kids was planning on eating it when she got home. I forgot that had been the plan and I messed up. I know this was a little thing, but I still found myself reflexively trying to tell a story that made me come off in a better light and not seem like I was wrong. Is this the way followers of Jesus should act (large or small) when we get things wrong? What do we do when we realize that we have messed up?
